During the 2022-23 reporting period, the professional body supervisors (PBSs) that supervise the accountancy sector for compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) rules made 2,569 onsite visits and desk-based reviews, identifying 467 non-compliant firms. Formal action was taken against 508 firms, ranging from formal reprimands to fines exceeding £1.49m.

In May 2024, the Treasury released the latest AML supervisory report, detailing the most common failings among regulated firms from 2022-23, based on findings from supervisory bodies.
