Audit Wales plans office review as budget increases

Audit Wales has confirmed an increase in funding to £23.7m for the next 12 months while it reviews its three offices as hybrid working affects demand for space

The body has set an overall budget of £23.7m for 2022-23, up £1.7m from 2021-22, with £15m of revenue earned from charging fees for audit work, up from £13.9m year on year. Staff costs are expected to be £18.8m for the financial year, up from £17.5m the previous year with a minor change in staff numbers from 275 to 280.

Over the coming year, the priority will be to implement changes to its operating model to support audit objectives and maintain audit quality. Audit Wales conducts over 800 audits a year at public bodies from local government to NHS trusts.
