ISSB to open Geneva office to support sustainability standards

IFRS Foundation approves use of reserves by IASB to address financial problems while opens Swiss office for ISSB to emphasise global importance of new sustainability standards

Located in Geneva, the Swiss office will be one of several global offices for the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and will be in addition to the London headquarters for the IFRS Foundation, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the ISSB.

The Geneva office will open during 2027 and will be the seventh for the IFRS Foundation, which already has permanent offices in London, Frankfurt, Montreal, San Francisco, Beijing and Tokyo, and is a key part of the standard setter’s ‘multi-location model’. Frankfurt will remain the European hub for the ISSB’s EU engagement.

The IFRS Foundation trustees have also approved a new five-year operating and financing plan for the IASB and ISSB, and confirmed it was consulting on proposed targeted amendments to the IFRS Foundation’s Constitution that codify previously announced trustee decisions and will be open for comment until 16 November 2026.
