With a huge government push to roll out artificial intelligence (AI) adoption across the UK to drive growth and improve productivity, a survey of auditors by Careers in Audit found that they were sceptical about the benefits while beyond the top 10 firms use of AI is limited, with a third simply using ChatGPT and CoPilot, rather than really leveraging the technology for real audit functions.

At the moment 53% of auditors said they were already ‘actively using’ AI in their everyday roles, with the Big Four all publicly using the technology and EY investing in it for over 15 years already.

Of the 47% not using AI in their business, 39% said the main reason for not doing so was not having a deep enough understanding of the technology.
