This is a last minute adjustment to the draft employment bill, following the release on 1 July of a detailed timetable for the rollout of a raft of new employment rights for workers, a core part of Labour’s change agenda.

The specific bereavement measures will give those experiencing pregnancy loss at any stage the legal right to take time off work to grieve, giving them much needed support at a difficult time. This will be a day one right for employees.
