Company car tax: key issues for fleet managers

Nigel Morris, tax director, MHA MacIntyre Hudson examines the current state of company car taxation and the key issues for fleet managers

According to HMRC’s own statistics, despite there being 10% less company cars declared on P11D than in 2007/8, the amount of tax and national insurance contributions (NIC) being paid is higher. The latest provisional figures for 2015/16 show that total tax liability from company cars was an estimated £1.48bn, up from £1.30bn in 2010/11 (see box 1).
