Ex PwC partner sets up PE backed Unity Advisory firm

A group of former Big Four partners, led by Marissa Thomas, have secured £220m in private equity backing from Warburg Pincus to set up challenger firm under Unity Advisory name

Unity Advisory is the latest challenger firm with ambitions to disrupt the highly competitive accountancy market which is saturated with private equity money.

Unusually the firm, set up as a limited company, will not offer any audit services, focusing on tax, accounting and business advisory work, describing itself as a ‘next-generation CFO advisory firm’.

Private equity firm Warburg Pincus has put up the funding for the business, founded by director and CEO Marissa Thomas, former managing partner and chief operating officer of PwC UK until she left the firm last June.
