ICAEW updates code of ethics for accountants

ICAEW has revised the Code of Ethics to tighten up professional behaviour and ‘strength of character’ of accountants with warnings on potential misuse of technology

The latest changes, the first revision for nearly five years, have been made in response to the latest Code produced by the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), which the ICAEW Code is based on.

The new Code of Ethics will come into force from 1 July 2025 and the latest version is available now for download. It was approved by ICAEW’s council last month for use by all ICAEW accountants.

Key changes relate to the role and mindset of accountants, use of technology, and professional behaviour.
