Shareholder information anomaly addressed
The Companies Act 2006 introduced a number of measures aimed
at protecting the personal information of directors and shareholders.
The changes were deemed necessary following past misuses of that information,
such as the harassment of directors and shareholders of Huntingdon
Life Sciences by animal rights activists.
A company’s annual return previously had to state the
name and address of each shareholder. In 2007, however, this was changed
