The committee’s report into the impact of the Employment Rights Bill on UK businesses and employers, makes five recommendations to tighten up the proposed regulations.

It wants to see the use of clear definitions to define ‘precise reforms to end exploitative zero-hours contracts’, and stressed that the government needs to review gig status workers, stating that it needs to ‘accelerate, not slow down, reform of worker status and bogus self-employment’.

Chair of the Business and Trade Committee Liam Byrne said: ‘So we want ministers to make some strategic changes to the Employment Rights Bill to help make sure Britain’s best firms can no longer be undercut by rogue companies cutting corners and exploiting their workers.’
