Parliament needs more powers to scrutinise tax deals

 Parliament should have more oversight of settlements that HMRC strikes with large corporations to help maintain public trust, a Committee report states

A report released by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax calls for greater transparency and a crackdown on sweetheart deals between HMRC and large multinational companies.

The report states that public trust in HMRC needs to be strengthened and this could be achieved through the establishment of a new parliamentary committee with special powers to access confidential information of large multinational companies.
