The question of Enterprise Zones

Are government proposals for Enterprise Zones enough to kickstart British business? asks Neil Hodge

While news that the government wants to encourage business growth through a mixture of tax relief and cuts to bureaucracy has been welcomed, accountants and tax experts are so far not convinced that the measures to create a raft of new enterprise zones will really hit their target.

In the March Budget, the government announced that it was going to set up 21 brand new enterprise zones in England. There were a number of pledges at the time, including the promise that each would have simplified planning rules, super-fast broadband and tax breaks for businesses.
