Reform MP steps down amid Covid loan allegations

The MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock has suspended himself from Reform UK following allegations about abuse of Covid bounce back loans during the pandemic

James McMurdock has stood down from Reform after claims he was paid £70,000 in Covid loans via two companies that he was not entitled to.

According to Companies House, McMurdock has been director of two companies, J A M Financial Ltd and Gym Live Health & Fitness Ltd. The first was incorporated on 31 October 2016 while the latter was incorporated on 9 January 2017.
