Revised Listing Rules have ‘consequential impact’ for accountants

Changes to UK Listing Rules will affect the work of reporting accountants and interaction of Ethical Standard, warns the FRC, as it issues guidance for assurance providers

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has issued a staff guidance note for assurance providers setting out how to comply with revised UK Listing Rules.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) issued the revisions to the UK Listing Rules in July 2024, making significant changes to the regulatory requirements which will have a ‘consequential impact’ on the work of reporting accountants.

The changes removed the requirement for independent assurance on shareholder circulars to support investor decision making in relation to these transactions; and removed the requirement for a sponsor to be appointed for these transactions.
