Simplification of inheritance tax review: what's in scope

On 23 November 2018, the Office of Tax Simplification (OTS) published the first of two reports following a review of administrative and technical aspects of inheritance tax. This article summarises the background to the review and recommendations put forward in the report.

Background

The review into the inheritance tax regime was requested by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, in January 2018.
