The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has been paying out taxpayer funded bonuses worth millions to their staff, The Times reported.
The average bonus for a regular member of staff was £11,954 and non-director level members received up to £36,917, whereas directors were awarded a much higher rate of £85,000.
The NDA is responsible for cleaning up Britain's nuclear sites and altogether £3.8m has been accounted for the paying of bonuses to 315 staff last year.
The release of this information comes just before the chancellor is to announce his Budget and highlights how taxpayer's money is being spent.
The NDA is yet to comment on the matter.
