Delta Taxis, based in Liverpool and Veezu, a taxi firm based in Cardiff are preparing for a court battle against Uber after its application to appeal to the Supreme Court was accepted. This is set to go ahead in July 2025.

Delta Taxis was first established in 1968 in Merseyside and has 2,000 drivers while Veezeu is just 12 years old and has more than 16,0000 active driver-partners.

The rest of the UK has a different licensing scheme to London, and in July 2023 Uber won a High Court ruling which stated that private hire taxi firms should be adhering to ‘certain contractual requirements’ nationwide.

Delta and Veezu appealed this at the Court of Appeal in 2024 and won. Uber is appealing this decision at the Supreme Court.
