Payroll has become an increasingly important function for employers, affected by an ongoing stream of legislative changes in recent years. With much of the global community now forced into lockdown, payroll professionals here in the UK have been called upon to implement the government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, further underlining its importance for companies and organisations.

Which is why, despite the current challenges of social distancing, I’m pleased to have come together with like-minded industry colleagues from across the UK to help launch the Payroll Bureau Association (PBA), an exciting and progressive development for all people who work within the payroll bureau profession. With 11 founding members representing firms from all parts of the UK, this new organisation will serve as a means of raising standards and attracting more people into this field, which is currently crying out for new talent.
