CABA has provided Dementia UK with funding to give past and present ICAEW members and their families with Admiral Nursing support through the charity’s admiral Nursing Direct helpline.

CABA also aids with the top up costs of residential care as two thirds (£17.4bn) of the cost of dementia care is paid for by people with dementia and their families either in unpaid care (£11.6bn) or paying for private social care.

This support is invaluable to families caring for someone with dementia, especially given that two thirds of carers (66%) have given up work or reduced their hours to care and almost one third of carers (31%) only ask for help when it’s an emergency.

Kelly Feehan, services director for CABA, said: ‘Dementia is a growing problem for many people, specifically as our population ages. We are dedicated to understanding past and present ICAEW members needs and alleviating their worries and financial struggles by providing dementia care and, to complement this, introducing care home top-up fees.’
