Companies House alert about removing home address details

Companies House is alerting individuals to a change to the data suppression laws which will help them remove their home address from publicly available company documents

This applies to company directors and others such as secretaries, people with significant control (PSC) and LLP members, whose home address is publicly available on company documents.

Anyone who wants to remove their home address can apply at a cost of £55 for each document they want to suppress.

They must provide an alternative correspondence address if they are still appointed to a live company, such as a current director. This will replace their home address on the public register.

If they are no longer appointed to a company, they do not need to provide an alternative address. Instead, only the first half of their postcode will be available to the public.

Companies Houses says it is not possible to use this process to remove a home address if the applicant has used it as a company’s registered office.
