Dormant company director jailed for £200k loan fraud

A director of four education support companies, three of which were dormant, has been imprisoned after he borrowed £50,000 for each of his businesses and spent it ‘as he saw fit’

Ricky Harrison, 41, managed to get £200,000 in Covid bounce back loans when he was only entitled to £16,000. He then applied for all his companies to be struck off the Companies House register.

The four companies were Hackney Works Ltd, Tower Hamlets Works Ltd, Ricky Harrison Holdings Ltd, and Newham Works Ltd, where Harrison was the sole director. Two addresses were used for the four companies, and all were described as educational support services on Companies House. This sector code includes provision of family resource management, training about parenting skills and nutrition advice, and many more.
