On 30 November, the European Commission is hosting a conference on the future of corporate reporting focusing on whether the current EU legislative framework needs reform
The conference follows the recent public consultation on corporate reporting which ran from March to July 2018.
The event provides an opportunity for regulators, preparers and users to share their views and debate on the future of corporate reporting and to discuss whether the current EU framework needs to be adapted to keep up with the digital business model developments (internet businesses) and sustainability concerns (climate and social issues).
The conference will be held in Brussels, Belgium with speakers including key European and international regulators and supervisors and senior business representatives.
Vice president of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, will host the event with four panel sessions around the following themes:
- Is corporate reporting still fit for purpose and for upcoming challenges?
- Are accounting rules for EU capital markets coherent with the EU policy objectives of promoting long-term and sustainable investments?
- Towards relevant sustainability disclosure?
- Corporate reporting: time to embrace the digital revolution?
The conference will also be webcast.
