Chris Warmoll assesses reaction to Starbucks, Amazon and Google’s defence of tax arrangements

As Amazon prepares to meet the 20 November deadline to provide the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) with all the details of its Luxembourg holding company it failed to deliver earlier this week, figures from the accounting industry have offered their thoughts on the issues that emerged.

Mary Monfries, head of tax policy and regulation at PwC believes the time is now ripe for a “proper debate on tax policy and whether it's fit for purpose”.
