The naive optimism of spring was infusing my general outlook on work. I had once again remembered how much of a difference doing the daily commute in the daylight makes to general wellbeing. I was even feeling more positive about my role as chief debt collector. Before my arrival the company had somewhat taken its eye off the ball when it came to collecting cash. I was getting increasingly demanding emails from the US Headquarters concerning the out-of-control DSO (days sales outstanding), so fortified by the warm weather I was on a tour of clients trying to prise some money out of them.
