FRC updates going concern guidance

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has issued updated guidance on reporting of going concern and liquidity risks to improve quality of disclosures and encourage preparers to take a longer term view

It is designed for all UK companies, except smalls and micro entities, and focuses on how to assess underlying going concern conclusions by ‘taking a broader view over a longer term’ to improve levels of transparency for investors who rely on these disclosures.

The revised FRC guidance on Going Concern Basis of Accounting and Related Reporting, including Solvency and Liquidity Risks, was issued after consultation with stakeholders and runs to 52 pages.

There are handy summaries of reporting requirements and comparative tables to illustrate what accounting standards, including UK GAAP and IFRS, need to be referenced, as well as jump tags to navigate the document.
