Haddrill: audit quality and corporate governance must improve

Continuous improvement in audit quality and corporate governance is essential if the UK is to attract investment post Brexit and shake off the legacy of questionable auditor behaviour, says Stephen Haddrill, chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC)

Since it was established 25 years ago, the corporate governance framework has helped attracted significant investment in UK businesses. Now, with changing expectations from shareholders and other stakeholders, it is time to have a major review of the UK Corporate Governance Code to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
