The latest civil service workplace survey gives an interesting insight into the views of HMRC staff on job satisfaction, salaries, pensions, work culture and effectiveness of the leadership of the organisation. Some 59% of HMRC’s 66,000 staff took part in the survey, which was sent to over 581,000 civil service employees with a 61% participation rate.

When it comes to job satisfaction, eight in 10 (82%) HMRC staff said they agreed or strongly agreed that they were interested in their work, with a similar number stating the work was challenging. Similarly, 82.7% had a clear understanding of the role of HMRC.
