Melissa Hernandez, executive at Propero Partners, discusses the practical applications of artificial intelligence and the use of web-based chatbots by accounting firms to increase engagement with customers
Things are getting futuristic in the world of accounting. The dark days of bean counting have been left far behind and accounting firms that have adopted advanced technology can now deliver more in-depth analysis and an increased value of service for their clients. But how does this use of new technologies translate when marketing a business or, more specifically, an accounting firm?
Marketing has benefitted from recent advances in technology because, generally, it can provide a deeper understanding of audiences. One of the benefits of this increased level of intelligence is the opportunity to considerably expand a firm’s client list.
A big trend in the tech sphere is the ‘chatbot’ and modern versions are increasingly intelligent - which is a big step away from their murky start as information points. The ‘always-listening’ bots (Alexa, Siri, Google Home, Cortana) are now able to act more like a personal assistant with knowledge of our calendars, travel plans, and so on. They exist in the consumer market too. For instance, Expedia’s bot can book flights and hotels on your command.
