In its annual audit quality inspection (AQI) report last year, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) found that a third of the audits conducted by the largest seven audit firms still needed improvements. These results add further weight to existing concerns around the problems in the auditing profession, with a lot of criticism being publicised over the last 12 months for both the Big Four as a whole and auditors individually.
