La Perla rescued in cross-border insolvency deal

Luxury lingerie company La Perla saved by insolvency experts in the UK and Italy after teetering on the edge of collapse following HMRC winding up petition over £2.8m tax bill

Joint liquidators Andrew Watling and Duncan Beat, managing directors from business advisory firm Quantuma, saved Italian lingerie brand La Perla Global Management (UK) Limited after entering into the first cross-border insolvency protocol straddling legal frameworks across jurisdictions in the UK and Italy.

Quantuma was appointed as joint liquidators of La Perla on 2 November 2023 following an application for the compulsory winding up of the company by HMRC. With the business operating in both the UK and Italy, the liquidation proceedings were far from straightforward.
