BDO has appointed Iain Henderson as senior partner following a partnership vote, succeeding outgoing Matthew White, who will step down in September after eight years in the key governance role. Henderson will take over responsibility for governance and oversight on 1 October, and will also chair the oversight board and work closely with the four independent non-executives (INEs). He is a long-standing audit partner with more than 30 years of experience auditing multinational businesses who report into the US, and undertaking transactions on the US capital markets. He is currently partner – US audit and sector lead for the firm’s US audit team, and UK country co-ordinating partner for the US member firm, leading on all aspects of the BDO UK/US relationship. EY has appointed Andrew Harrison as a partner within its US-UK cross border private client tax team, based in London. Harrison, who joins following two years managing KPMG’s US private client team, will now co-lead EY’s high net worth focused team alongside fellow partner Lucy Townsend. He has also held previous roles at Deloitte, BDO and McKinsey and specialises in advising private clients on the international aspects of tax management, including taxation of fund executives, transactions, and pre-US immigration tax planning. His appointment forms part of EY and the HNW group’s ongoing strategy to expand US private client business.
Dains has announced 100 promotions across the firm, including four new partner appointments, Rob Wilson as corporate finance partner in the Midlands, Ellen Feetum as tax partner in the north west, and in Scotland, Ian Brown as indirect tax partner and Brian Thomson as audit partner. These appointments strengthen Dains’ leadership team across key regions and service lines, supporting clients with increasingly complex financial and strategic needs. New directors include Elliot Bonomini, Matt Norris and Rachael Dagger in the Midlands, and Andrew McKay and Laura Nicoll in Scotland.
Rawlinson & Hunter LLP has appointed Harry Swift as a director in the UK/US private client tax team. He has over two decades of experience advising clients on cross-border taxation issues, both in tax advisory and compliance, pension planning and relocation matters. Swift is a CIOT chartered tax associate ATT member and a US enrolled agent. He joins from US Tax and Financial Services where he was a tax director, and previously worked at Deloitte and EY.
Azets has strengthened the audit and tax services teams in the north east with four new hires. Stuart Stephenson joins as corporate tax director in the tax service team and brings more than nine years of experience at KPMG, most recently as a tax senior tax manager, and Jonathan Kennedy has been appointed R&D associate director, joining from S&W where he was incentives and reliefs senior manager. Both will be based out of the Newcastle office. Yasmin Bambrough has joined as audit senior and Rebecca Hutton as audit associate, both based in the Teesside office. They join from PwC and Clive Owen respectively.
HaysMac has appointed Ben O’Neill as tax director in corporate tax and property team. He is a tax specialist with 14 years’ experience advising real estate clients both across the UK and internationally. He will work closely with clients across the real estate sector, supporting them through the full lifecycle of their businesses and assets, from structuring and transactions to ongoing compliance and advisory matters. He joins from PwC where he was a senior tax manager in the real estate tax team.
Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Tom Hufton as a senior director in the new reputation advisory practice, based in London. He will support public companies and private equity backed businesses on complex, multi-stakeholder communications. Hufton brings 15 years of international experience advising companies, lenders and investors on complex stakeholder management, with deep expertise in capital markets communications and across consumer sectors. He joins from FTI Consulting, where he was a managing director and led restructuring communications, representing both corporates and lenders.
Quantify Advisors has appointed Ryan Clark as corporate finance manager following eight years working at Deloitte most recently as a manager, after a stint as an audit supervisor at Johnston Carmichael. He brings nearly a decade of experience working on large scale audits for both public and privately owned businesses, and in corprorate finance, and in his new role will complement the existing team’s skillset working on new projects and existing client business.
Digital Futures has appointed former PwC senior partner Kevin Ellis CBE as chair of the board at the technology services company specialising in artificial intelligence. Ellis spent four decades at PwC, becoming partner in 1996 and was on the executive board for nearly 20 years, and chairman and senior partner in the UK and Middle East for eight years until 2024. He brings extensive leadership experience and strong business advisory expertise. In his new role, he will work closely with the board and executive team to support growth, strengthen governance, and expand into international markets.
R3 Yorkshire has appointed Jodie Wildridge of Kings Chambers as the new chair, succeeding Dave Broadbent in the role. She specialises in insolvency and commercial litigation at barristers Kings Chambers, and was recognised by Legal 500 as a rising star in the field of company and insolvency law. Previously vice president, Wildridge takes up the position at a time when businesses across the region are facing ongoing cost pressures and rising insolvencies. In her new role, she will champion the interests of the county’s restructuring, turnaround and insolvency professionals on a regional and national level, as well as supporting the organisation’s programme of conferences and events.
Signicat has appointed Emma Bauer as global chief product officer at the digital identity specialist. Bauer joins the executive team to scale the software-as-a-service platform to deal with sweeping regulatory shifts under eIDAS 2.0 and the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR). Bauer brings a combination of deep technical expertise and strategic executive experience from over 20 years both working as a developer before moving into senior leadership scaling product organisations in high growth tech environments. Previously she was senior vice president of integrations at Tobii.
