Directors’ addresses wiped to prevent identity theft

New laws are set to be introduced to make it easier for company directors to remove their personal addresses from the Companies House public register.

Companies House made this information available without charge in June 2015. Since then directors have expressed concerns at not being able to remove or suppress their personal information from the register, despite the nature of the information putting them at serious risk of violence or intimidation. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) also recently highlighted that fraudsters were using publicly available information about directors to commit identity fraud.
