The latest legal news including civil litigation costs under Jackson reforms, Nuttall review, Yam Seng case and contract law

Major changes to civil litigation came into force on 1 April 2013, implementing the main recommendations of Lord Justice Jackson (pictured) in his review of civil litigation costs. The reforms aim to control the costs and bring them to a proportionate level. The changes are contained in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and in amendments to the Civil Procedure Rules.
