Nurturing ambition in finance - tips and advice

Informing employees on promotion timelines, giving them recognition for their accomplishments and providing training are all things employers can do to ensure they attract and retain the most ambitious individuals, says Karen Young, director at Hays Senior Finance

Ambitious and driven employees are a vital part of any organisation, and are often the ingredient to achieving business success and of course helping to improve productivity. Positively, according to the Hays What Workers Want Report, over three-quarters (76%) of accountancy and finance professionals consider themselves to be ambitious.

However, over a third (37%) say they are dissatisfied or indifferent to their current role, which is often a sign that employees are more likely to move jobs if ambitions are not being met. To avoid this, what can accountancy and finance employers do to ensure they attract and retain the most ambitious individuals?
