Only eight female CEOs in FTSE 100

The number of female executive directors had flatlined in the last year with only 31 women holding executive roles across 27 companies, there are only eight female CEOs, and 15 female chief financial officers (CFO) or financial directors

The annual Female FTSE Board report found that FTSE 350 companies have continued to meet and exceed the target of 33% women on all boards set by the Hampton-Alexander Review with 393 women holding directorships across FTSE 100 boards, and 688 across FTSE 250 boards.

This is the highest figure since the since the report was first published in 1999. However, the percentage of female executive directors has flatlined for the second year in a row at 13.7% with last year’s figure at 13.2%.

The analysis, conducted by Cranfield University’s School of Management and sponsored by EY, found that the percentage of female non-executive directors (NEDs) on FTSE 100 boards is at an all-time high at 44%, with 14% women chairs, 25% women senior independent directors and 35% women chairing board committees.
