Troy Alstead, the global CFO of Starbucks - the under-fire global coffee shop chain left reeling after it emerged that the US company had paid no UK taxes for the past three years, despite sales of £1.2bn - is to appear before the powerful Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday.

Also appearing before MPs will be Matt Brittin, Google UK's CEO and Andrew Cecil, director of public policy at Amazon.

Labour MP Margaret Hodge, who chairs PAC, will lead the public grilling live on Parliament TV.

The Starbucks row broke last month following a Reuters report which revealed the UK operation had made a loss of £52m in its 2009 accounts field at Companies House, despite it telling investors that the UK company was 'profitable'.

Margaret Hodge has already questioned HMRC chief Lin Homer this week about tax issues surrounding multinational companies operating in Britain.

Search engine giant, Google also paid just £6m of corporation tax in the UK last year, while Amazon amassed over £3.3bn through its UK website in 2011, but paid no corporation tax on any of the profits from that income.

MPs say the cases undermine public trust in the British tax system.
