Pension fraudsters jailed after £13m scam

Two pension trustees have been jailed after they scammed 245 people out of £13m through fraudulent pension investment schemes

Alan Barratt, of Essex, and Susan Dalton, of Rochdale, were sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Friday last week after pleading guilty to charges of fraud by abuse of position arising from their roles as trustees of pension schemes between 2012-14.

Following a prosecution brought by The Pensions Regulator (TPR), Barratt received a sentence of five years and seven months while Dalton was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison. The pair were also banned from acting as company directors for eight years following a request by TPR.
