Milsted Langdon has appointed Tim Lerwill as a partner in the audit & general practice department in the Bath office. He has more than 20 years of experience in audit, accounts, and general business advisory particularly for owner-managed businesses and international groups. A passionate age-group triathlete that has represented Great Britain, Lerwill was previously a partner at Old Mill.

Moore Kingston Smith has made a series of partner and director promotions alongside key leadership appointments. Daniel Lever is promoted to partner in the corporate audit team leading audits for mid-market and large private groups. He brings valuable international and cross-sector experience, and before joining the firm in 2021, was a manager at Deloitte in Australia. Seven staff have been promoted to director, including Amanda Harris and Sam Edwards in the nonprofit team, Nav Johal, Geoff Nichols and Kevin Veitch in general practice, Vida McShane in the legal team and Charlie Killingbeck in corporate finance. Nick Thompson has been appointed head of corporate finance and Marc Fecher becomes chair of corporate finance, while partner Karen Wardell has been appointed head of technical.

Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Ian Birch as a managing director in Birmingham, as it continues to strengthen its corporate finance practice and will build out the technology M&A capability across Europe. Previously he spent 20 years at PwC, most recently as technology services M&A leader. He has experience across IT services, software and digital platforms with particular specialisms in technology consulting and managed services.   

Kreston Reeves has appointed Nick Dawe as director in the VAT and indirect tax team. He has considerable expertise across all areas of VAT and with specific interests in land and property businesses, financial services, retail, not-for-profit, energy and public sector institutions. Previously he was at KPMG where he was a senior manager in its indirect tax team and spent eight years at HMRC as its G7 and G6 VAT specialist.

SBP Accountants & Business Advisers has made a number of promotions at its Peterhead office. Lydia Bugden has been promoted to manager, Alana Buchan to senior accountant, Devon Simpson to accounts assistant level three, and Aidan Brown becomes accounts assistant level two. Budgen joined SBP in January 2020 as an accounts assistant and has steadily advanced through the firm, most recently stepping into a supervisory role in April 2024, where she also took on staff management responsibilities. She now oversees a diverse portfolio of clients and plays a key role in the daily operations of the Peterhead office.

Claritas Tax has appointed Tom Prescott as head of transfer pricing and associate partner, based in the Birmingham office. He has over 15 years’ experience in transfer pricing for clients both in the UK and internationally, advising businesses from start-ups to FTSE 100 companies. He joins from KPMG where he was a senior manager.

KPMG International has appointed three global sector heads, with two from the UK office. Liz Claydon has been appointed global sector head of life sciences, alongside her roles as head of global deal advisory and vice chair at KPMG in the UK. Jonathon Gill has been appointed global sector head of industrial manufacturing and he will continue to work with his UK-based clients from his previous position as head of industrial manufacturing and defence at KPMG in the UK. Jim Suglia has been appointed global sector head of asset management. With more than 24 years’ experience at KPMG, he will continue to lead the alternative investments practice in the US.   

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has re-elected François Villeroy de Galhau, governor of the Bank of France, as its chair and Tiff Macklem, governor of the Bank of Canada, will become chair of the BIS Consultative Council for the Americas (CCA).
