People in the news: RSM, ForrestBrown, Smith Cooper

Career news this week includes a director appointment in RSM’s corporate finance team, ForrestBrown appoints a finance director, a director at Smith Cooper obtains his insolvency practitioner licence

RSM has appointed John Price as a director in its corporate finance team in Reading. Price, who joins from EY, has 14 years of corporate finance experience during which time he has focused predominantly on private equity and corporate transactions in the technology and travel sectors. In his new role, he will focus on deal origination and execution of mid-market mergers and acquisitions in the M4 corridor. RSM has also expanded its annual trainee intake by appointing 320 new students, up on the 288 who joined the firm last year.

ForrestBrown has appointed Andy Yeo as finance director to help facilitate the company’s growth plans, following its acquisition by US firm alliantgroup earlier this year. Over the last ten years, Yeo has helped professional service businesses in recruitment, health and the legal sector grow. He will provide staff with the right financial systems and processes so that they can continue to grow the business.

Michael Roome, director at Smith Cooper, has obtained his insolvency practitioner licence. Roome, based in the firms Nottingham Lace Market office, has over 20 years of experience within the insolvency profession. He deals with both corporate and personal insolvency matters, including liquidations, administrations and bankruptcies across a range of sectors and circumstances. Having passed his final JIEB Insolvency examination in March 2017, Roome is now authorised to act as a practitioner by the ICAEW and will be taking appointments with immediate effect.

Chartered accountant’s Stephenson Smart has appointed Dan Jastrzebski as a manager in its King Street office in King’s Lynn. He will work alongside partner Clive Dodds. Jastrzebski qualified as a chartered accountant in 2014 and from there worked his way up to client manager level.

The Insolvency Practitioners Association has appointed Michelle Thorp as chief executive with effect from 10 September. Throp joins the IPA from the Department for International Trade where she was digital, data and technology lead and a major project leader for the cabinet office, specialising in strategic organisational change. She has almost twenty years’ experience dealing with senior government departments which will be invaluable given the IPA’s role in developing the regulatory framework under which all insolvency practitioners operate.
