A number of employers who took part in the Real Time Information (RTI) pilot in 2012–13 have been sent PAYE Late Payment default warning letters (FP12) by HMRC by mistake
In some cases, multiple letters have been received. HMRC says any employer receiving such a letter should ignore it.
The error is down to an automated computer error but raises alarms about the reliability of the HMRC IT system.
