The Scottish government has started a recruitment drive for a chairman and board members for the Revenue Scotland board, which will be responsible for devolved tax collection
Revenue Scotland, a new non-ministerial department, is being set up as Scotland’s tax authority for devolved taxes. The board will be responsible for administering the new Land and Buildings Transaction Tax and the Scottish Landfill Tax, with effect from 1 April 2015.
The chair of the Board will play a central role in the future management of devolved taxes in Scotland, based in Edinburgh. The Scottish government is looking for applications for the new lead role from individuals with a variety of background and skills, including leadership, developing the organisation, strategic planning and performance review, governance, financial/risk management and audit, and knowledge of the Scottish context.
The chair will be paid £385 per day, while board members will receive £275 per day.
Revenue Scotland says: ‘Identifying the right people to lead this body is a crucial step in establishing the robust governance structure for Scotland's new tax authority.’
Completed applications must be received on or before 25 July 2014.
