Starting pay still on the rise for job seekers

Candidate shortages and economic uncertainty weighed on permanent job recruitment in November, according to KPMG and REC jobs report

The latest report, compiled by S&P Global, showed that labour shortages and concerns over the economy impacted recruitment in November.

The number of permanent staff placements fell for the second consecutive month and temp billings rose only slightly.

Following the seasonally adjusted index, permanent placements fell below the neutral 50.0 threshold, standing at 46.4 in November nationally.

Meanwhile, overall vacancy growth expanded at the softest pace for 21 months, marking continued uncertainty with the current economic outlook.
