Although the self assessment deadline is not until 31 January, there continues to be an increase of self-employed workers in the UK choosing tax returns over turkey by using the festive period as the ideal time to submit their tax returns online with HMRC.

In fact, last year a huge 31,000 taxpayers submitted self assessment tax returns over the festive period, with 19,802 submitting on Christmas Eve and 2,828 submitting on Christmas Day.
