Testers of government AI chatbot warned of ‘hallucinations’

Up to 15,000 people are going to have the pleasure of trialling the government’s ‘experimental chatbot’ which is entering its second phase of testing

The artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot software is being integrated into the government’s gov.uk website to make information easier and quicker to find.

Stephen Relf, technical manager of tax at ICAEW has tested the chatbot and told Business & Accountancy Daily that overall, it was a ‘positive experience’.

However, when it comes to the rollout of an AI chatbot across HMRC for taxpayers the overall positiveness around the technology could drop as general users attempt to use it.
