What you need to know: executing documents using electronic signatures

Sophie Brookes, partner and professional support lawyer, Gateley plc explains the legal requirements behind electronic signatures used on documents, following recent guidance issued by The City of London Law Society

The Law Society and The City of London Law Society have published a practice note which gives guidance on the status of documents executed using electronic signatures. With further developments in technology, however, parties are increasingly looking at dispensing with hard copy documents altogether and moving to electronic signatures.
