The number of accountants taking the top job at FTSE 100 companies has dropped this year, along with the remuneration packages awarded to top chief executives, research by Accountancy has revealed.
Figures show a 17% drop from the number of accountant CEOs in 2005, with only 20 out of 100 CEOs being accountants this year.
CEO remuneration for FTSE 100 bosses averaged in at £1.95m for the latest year, with Mark Bristow, CEO of Randgold Resources, scooping the top spot with a £7.3m remuneration package.
