Female accountants are more likely to be lucky in love this Valentine’s Day than their male counterparts, but both stand to lose out to the attractions of lawyers and advertising execs when it comes to meeting members of the opposite sex, according to research by the dating site eHarmony
It has crunched the numbers to find which professions top the list as most appealing to those looking for a partner. The poll shows men in advertising, lawyers and pilots received the most messages from women on the site, with bankers coming in at fourth place.
Men were keenest to meet women in the legal profession, followed by those in marketing and advertising, with teachers in fourth place and female bankers ranked at number seven, one below flight attendants.
Female accountants take eighth place in the poll of sexiest professions. Sadly for legions of male accountants, however, they did not make it into eHarmony’s top ten. Both men and women could consider swapping a career in accountancy to become a physical therapist, a profession which scored well for attractiveness to anyone looking for love.
The site has also analysed the most compatible jobs, or the combinations most likely to talk to each other. This shows that female bankers were most likely to end up with a physical therapist, while male bankers go for architects.
Meanwhile, KPMG is warning about the hidden perils of dating sites, after its latest Fraud Barometer research found individuals lost £3.2m to dating scams in 2015.
Chris Wheeler, forensic director of KPMG, said: ‘Fraudsters are posing as lonely hearts with the sole intention of seeking out the trusting and vulnerable and taking advantage of their good nature. By manipulating this technology they target multiple victims at the same time, while keeping costs and overheads low.’
Operators have taken steps to protect users, while individuals are warned to keep details safe, and not to part with any money or financial information to someone they have only met online.
