AI in accountancy could create 20k jobs

The rise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across finance teams is accelerating and could create 20,000 accountancy jobs adding £2bn to the economy

Over a quarter (26%) of accountancy firms are using AI in the workplace, but research from Sage and ACCA shows this could double in the next five years to 52%.

Many believe that AI will replace certain jobs, but for accountants, 61% of them think it will open up more pathways in the accounting sector. Over two thirds (68%) are also confident they will be able to adapt to the use of AI.

George Moss, practice manager at accountancy firm Bee Motion said: ‘AI will transform our roles from number crunchers to business coaches.

‘In the future, I imagine accounting firms buzzing with human interaction, where technology takes care of the mundane tasks and frees up time to engage more with clients and advise on business growth.
