Iconic interiors Designers Guild calls in administrators

Designers Guild calls in administrators at luxury home furnishings group with flagship shop in Kings Road after original IP deal falters and accounts overdue

Financial woes see founders of iconic Designers Guild Limited, director Tricia Guild and brother and CEO Simon Jerrreys, call in administrators from Interpath on Thursday with decision to make 93 staff redundant.

The collapse of the iconic luxury homewares and textile design brand followed an unsuccessful attempt to turn around Designers Guild in 2024 when the intellectual property (IP), including the brand and design archive, was sold to Dunelm in a £6m plus deal. The company then operated under a license agreement, but this did not work out.

But 24 hours after the company went into administration, IP owner Dunelm signed a 10-year licensing deal with luxury interiors plc, Sanderson Design Group, meaning the brand itself will survive, but not the company, a common approach across retail administrations.
