The head of the National Audit Office (NAO), Gareth Davies, appeared before MPs on the Public Accounts Committee, to be questioned about the future of audit, AI threat to jobs, and its £1m income from renting out parts of its refurbished office in the heart of Westminster.

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, chair of the committee, kicked off the very amicable hearing with questions for Rebecca Sheeran, chief operating officer of the NAO, about the planned job cuts and impact of AI on junior audit roles.
